Zespri Challenge

Our school is doing the Zespri challenge. The challenge is that we have to do heaps of steps, eat healthy, get better sleep and spend less time on screens. Everyday my class goes for a walk around the block or plays games with other classes. Everyday we have to enter our steps and for bonus points we can put in how much fruit we've had, How many veges we've had, the amount of sugar we've consumed, how much sleep we get ,mindfulness and screen time. This is a picture of our data

We can also put activity in as well. There are over 65 activities to choose from. On this day I had dance after school so I put that in. Our class is walking around Japan right now. All of our steps get put together and that makes us go really far. Zespri is a really great challenge for our class to do.

Jacinda Ardern

I have to write a blog about if I agree\disagree on what Jacinda Ardern said about wearing face masks in public and social distancing.

I agree with what she said about wearing them when you leave your house. This Covid outbreak is called Delta and it's very easy to catch. If you're breathing the same air as someone who has Covid you'll probably get Covid. If you wear a mask your chances of getting Covid will go down, and social distancing will help even more! As more and more people are getting vaccinated everyday in New Zealand, that makes some people think that they don't have to stay home, social distance or wear face masks. But what it really means is that once again your chances of getting Covid go down. So in conclusion, if you wear face masks, social distance and get vaccinated your chance of getting Covid are really low, but if you do get Covid remember to stay home and try to get better.

I decided I wanted to do the disagree argument as well. But I still agree with Jacinda Ardern.

I think that if we wear face masks we don't need to social distance because our mouths are covered up. Actually I don't think we need to wear face masks either. They are really uncomfortable and when you talk no on can hear you or they'll think you said something else. Let's say you're shopping and you ask someone where the bananas are. They will think you said something weird like 'funarnas', what even is that, because I don't know! If you're vaccinated it means that you won't get Covid, so I think that all people who get vaccinated don't need wear masks, social distance or stay home. So in conclusion, I disagree with what the Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said.

Buddy Activities

On Monday our teacher told us to pick a buddy or 2 and choose an activity to do over lockdown. I decided to do cooking. She told me she was already making meringues so I thought I would do them with her. When we got all the ingredients out I realised I didn't have cream tar tar. I searched up what could replace cream tar tar and we got lemon juice and baking soda. I decided to go with baking soda because that seemed like the right thing.

We started by separating the egg whites and whisking them until they were stiff. That took about 20 minutes and a LOT of complaining. After that we put in the caster sugar, icing sugar and baking soda then whisked again. When I put it on the tray it went everywhere I had to get help from my mum because I was useless at it. We put it in the oven and set the timer to 55 minutes, while we waited we cleaned up our kitchens. When they came out Jorgia and I zoomed so we could get each others reactions. As soon as I tasted it I wanted to throw up. It only tasted like baking soda.

Afterwards I asked her if she wanted to bake chocolate chip cookies but it turned out she had no butter so I just did it. Making them was but faster than the meringues, by the time I had put them in the oven I would've still been whisking the meringues. I took them out of the oven and waited for them to cool then tried them. My parents thought they tasted delicious and so did I!

Here are some of the pictures of the baking

Kia Kaha Buddies

Every Friday we have two year 13 girls named Jayda and Oriwa come into our class and do activity with us. Today we outside to the court and introduced ourselves after that we played bang and bull rush. The games were really fun and at the end they asked us what game we would like to play next and I want to play either doge ball or spaz ball.

When the year 13 wanted our attention they would say 123 and we had to reply with all eyes on me. It made me fell like a little kid
